Kia Ora koutou, (Hello everyone) I am a qualified Primary/ECE educator with indigenous Maori background, looking to go further into my passion of childcare. I have 3 years of current practising experience while have a bachelors degree in primary education to back me up. I have had my full drivers license since 2019, and I have a valid first aid certificate that is valid for 1 more year (expiring January 2026) I look forward to mingling further and hearing from you. Ngā mihi (thanks)
I have been working with children for 8 years. While working as a swimming instructor from 2018, I started my studies to be a primary school teacher. After I finished my degree, I found my true passion when I got my first job as an Early childhood educator. I am coming into my third year now as an ECE teacher. I have experience with all age groups from infants/babies up to teenagers. I love working with children as I have natural empathy and love to encourage their little lightbulb moments as they guide themselves through their learning with my encouragement alongside them. My favourite piece of feedback that I recieved when I did a placement with an intermediate classroom from a child was “I like how she talks with us, not at us” That was one of my very first placements as a teacher in training. I now live by the motto in my practise of “I love to talk ‘with’ children, not ‘at’ them.” That motto lives on, no matter what age group I work with, and has stuck with me even in my practise of Early childhood.
